taeniae coli Three thickened tape-like bands of longitudinal muscle fibers that are spread almost equidistant from each other on the surface of the large intestine from the cecum through the sigmoid colon. As they are shorter than the other coats of the large intestine, they produce the bulging sacculi or haustrations.
